Preparation of CO2 Balances
We have specialized in the preparation of greenhouse gas balances for tourism regions. In various research and pilot projects, we have developed sophisticated methods that enable comprehensive recording of all important CO2 emissions from tourism in a region.
CO2 footprint of a tourism destination
For the calculation of tourism-related emissions, we use a method that we have already tested in more than 10 regions. In addition, we take advantage of current scientific approaches, which we use to record the greenhouse gases in the destination.
We base our calculations on the areas of a trip in the respective destination region that generate the greatest environmental impact. These are mainly the areas of mobility, accommodation, catering and activities.
The calculations are individualized but still comparable, as the emissions are broken down relatively per guest and day or stay.
You receive a activity-related classification of the greatest emissions drivers in tourism destinations, which supports you to align your strategies directly.
In addition, we are currently testing another method that is based on international standards and enables direct comparisons.

On the way to climate neutrality in tourism destinations
We are currently developing a concept for comprehensive climate management in tourism. This includes both accounting, developing mitigation strategies, and offsetting residual emissions.
The start of the campaign is 2023.
